After the second year of summer camp, she began taking gymnastics classes at G.T.C in Rochester, Michigan. In 2001, she was a member of the TOPs Gold Level National Team. During Rebecca's level 7 season, she and her family moved to Texas, where Rebecca began training at the world reknowned World Olympic Gymnastics Academy (WOGA) in Plano, TX.

In 2003, Rebecca competed at the IG Hall of Fame meet where she placed first on vault, balance beam, and 11th in the all around. A few weeks later, Rebecca followed up the this showing with a 4th place all around finish, along with a first place showing on vault and uneven bars at the Level 8 Regional Championships.

As a level 9 in 2005, Rebecca made a very impressive showing at the WOGA Classic, where she placed first in the all around. She then competed as a level 10 at the Texas State Championships, where she placed first on all events except for floor exercise and finished second in the all around. In April, Rebecca competed at the Level 10 Regional Championships placing first in the all around as well as first on balance beam and floor exercise. This advanced Rebecca to the Junior Olympic National Championships. At the JO Nationals, Rebecca finished fifth in the all around with a 37.325. She also finished first on balance beam with a 9.600.

Not long after competing at the JO Nationals, Rebecca tested at Krafft Academy, where she successfully qualified to junior international elite.
